Tactical Shotgun

What is it?

Our Tactical Shotgun matches will involve shooting your shotgun with bird shot and slugs at differing steel, paper, and clay targets. Anyone can bring any shotgun out to shoot and we have divisions to make everyone competitive.

When will these matches be?

Please see the schedule/results page for when we will be shooting the next Tactical Shotgun match.

How much does it cost?

Tactical Shotgun will be $25 for non members and $20 for Taft Sportsmen's Club members.

What do I need to shoot Tactical Shotgun?

We plan on shooting four stages per match. You will need a shotgun and at least 100 rounds of bird shot and 10 slugs. We recommend you have something to hold your shells in and tactical shotgun loaders will help you out tremendously, but are not necessary.

What are the rules?

At the start signal, shoot all of the targets until you are finished. If you need slugs on certain targets, it will be clearly designated. Fastest time wins. Targets engaged but not hit will incur a 10 second penalty and targets not engaged will incur a 15 second penalty. Failing to rotate spinners will incur a 60 second penalty.

All Taft Sport Shooters' safety rules and reasons for disqualification will remain the same.

What do the stages look like?

The stages will always vary, but we have numerous steel targets, motion targets, clay targets, and paper targets.

We will be sure to film and post a video of our next match.

What are the divisions and classifications?

Divisions

Semi-Auto:Tactical Loading - Any semi-auto shotgun where the shooter uses tactical shell holders (speed loaders/magazines go in the open division)

Classification

We will use a percentage of score system to classify shooters based on their shooting results.
